Getting Started with Your Device

Watch this video to learn how to switch on your device, understand what its lights mean, keep your GPS updated, raise an SOS alarm, and how the Peoplesafe team supports you during an incident.

Device Basics

Charging & Powering On

The MySOS 4G ID Badge has a battery life of up to 10 days.

Your device charges via a magnetic charging strip or a plug‑in cable and takes around 4 hours to fully charge.

While charging you'll see a red light β€” it turns off when fully charged. The device will beep at 30% battery to remind you to charge it.

To turn on or off, press and hold the power button for 4 seconds, then wait for the light sequence to finish.

SOS Alarm

Raising an SOS Alarm

  1. Press and hold the SOS button for 4 seconds β€” you'll feel a vibration to confirm your alert has been sent.
  2. A second vibration confirms the Alarm Centre has received it.
  3. An alarm controller will listen in silently for around 10 seconds.
  4. If you can speak freely, please do β€” it helps them support you faster.
  5. All alarms are treated as genuine. Accidental activations are not a problem β€” but please do not test the SOS button.

Why Peoplesafe

Why is Peoplesafe faster than 999?

When you raise an alarm, the Peoplesafe ARC instantly receives your GPS location, live audio, and your personal risk profile. Trained operators quickly confirm whether the incident is genuine.

The ARC can verify the emergency, effectively "pre-triaging" the call. In an emergency, they can bypass 999 and contact the nearest police force directly β€” providing your location, what's happening, and any relevant personal risks.

This direct, informed escalation helps the police respond faster and more accurately to your situation.

  2. A beep begins to sound.
  3. Reinsert the ripcord pin into the top left-hand side of the device.

Question 2 of 8

When should you raise an alarm?

Raise an alarm as soon as you feel unsafe, threatened, unwell, or witness someone in distress. You never need to wait for a situation to escalate.

Question 3 of 8

βœ… Correct!
Simply tell the Alarm Controller "False alarm". They'll confirm your safety and close the alarm. Switching off or ignoring calls keeps the alarm open.

Question 4 of 8

Can you test the SOS button whenever you want?

βœ… You are right!
The Peoplesafe ARC is a 24/7 emergency response service. Please do not test the SOS button unless specifically asked by our team. Your device has a dedicated test line for checking it's working correctly.

During an Alarm

We May Call You During an Alarm

We may need to contact you during an alarm β€” whether to speak discreetly, check your welfare, or confirm your location.

You'll receive a call from the Peoplesafe ARC using the number saved in your contacts (via the QR code at the start).

Always answer the call and provide any information the Alarm Controller asks for β€” your name, date of birth, employee reference number, or details about your situation or location.

Question 5 of 8

What do you do if the Peoplesafe ARC calls you?

βœ… Well done!
Always answer the call and stay on the line until the Alarm Controller confirms what's needed. Only end the call once they say it's safe to do so.
❌ Not quite
Always answer the call and provide the information the ARC requests. Don't hang up until the Alarm Controller says it's safe.
Fall Detection

Have you been told your device has fall detection enabled?

If you're not sure, complete the training anyway so you know how to cancel accidental alarms.

Fall Detection

Fall Detection Works Automatically

Your device detects a fall by sensing freefall, tilt, and non-movement.

To help reduce false activations, please wear your device using a Peoplesafe Holster.

If the device activates by accident, you can cancel it by pressing the power button 3 times whilst the device is beeping.

How to Check In & Out

This feature lets your manager or Health & Safety team know you have started work safely or arrived home safely. It is reportable on the Nexus online portal.

Some devices have a check-in timer β€” if not checked out in time, 2 automated calls will prompt you to check out before an alarm is raised.

Safety Feature

How to Create a Timed Activity

Use for higher-risk tasks. Leave the details of the risks you face and your location within a building.

If you do not cancel a timed activity, you will receive 2 automated calls 5 minutes apart before an alarm is raised.

Safety Feature

How to Leave a Voice Memo

Leave short voice notes for the Alarm Centre about any risks or locations from the past 24 hours. If you're sharing a device, leave your name and number so we know who you are.

The ARC can review these only if an alarm is raised, helping them understand your situation faster.
