Enabling Discreet Alarms as a Shortcut

To set up the Discreet Alarms shortcut, you first need to enable it within the app's settings.

  1. Open the Discreet Alarms app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Navigate to Settings within the app.
  3. Tap on Discreet Alarms > Enable.
  4. In the menu that appears, select the Shortcut tab.
  5. Next download the pre-built "Discreet Alarm" Shortcut using this iCloud link: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/a98363855d6540f28bf96694bda0d796. This link will take you directly to the Shortcuts app, where you can add the Shortcut to your library.

The Discreet Alarm shortcut is now installed and the Peoplesafe App is setup.

How to Configure Your iPhone to Use the Shortcut

Not the shortcut is added, you can configure your iPhone in several ways to activate it quickly and discreetly should you need it.

Discreet Alarm on Your Lock Screen

This method is ideal for quick access without unlocking your phone.

  1. Long press anywhere on the Lock Screen on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on the Customise button.
  3. Tap on the Lock Screen image
  4. Remove the bottom-right or bottom-left action button.
  5. Tap on the [+]
  6. Select the Shortcut control
  7. Find and select the Discreet Alarm shortcut from the list.

How to use: you can press and hold the designated button on your Lock Screen to activate the alarm.

Action Button

For a physical, single-press activation, you can assign the shortcut to the Action Button on an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 or later and even an Apple Watch Ultra.

  1. Go to Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on Action Button.
  3. Swipe through the options until you find Shortcut.
  4. Tap the Choose a Shortcut button.
  5. Find and select the Discreet Alarm shortcut from the list.

How to use: A single press of the Action Button will activate your discreet alarm.

Activate Shortcut via Accessibility Tap Back

This method allows you to activate the alarm by tapping the back of your phone.

  1. Go to Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on Accessibility.

Add "Discreet Alarm" to the Control Center (iOS 18)

iOS 18 allows you to add specific Shortcuts directly to the Control Center, making it even easier to access your frequently used Peoplesafe actions. Here's how:

  1. Open Control Center: Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen (on iPhones with Face ID) or swipe up from the bottom (on iPhones with a Home button) to open Control Center.

  2. Enter Edit Mode: Tap and hold on an empty area of the Control Center, or tap the "+" button in the top-left corner. This will put Control Center into edit mode.

  3. Tap "Add a Control": At the bottom of the screen, tap "Add a Control".

  4. Find "Shortcuts": Scroll through the list of available controls or use the search bar to find "Shortcuts."

  5. Choose Your Shortcut: Tap on the "Shortcuts" control. You'll then be presented with a list of your available Shortcuts. Select the "Discreet Alarm" Shortcut.

  6. Arrange and Exit: Drag the Shortcut control to your desired location within the Control Center. When you're finished, tap outside the edit area or tap "Done" to exit edit mode.
