How to restrict location access in your account.

We require regular GPS locations from personal safety apps and devices to dispatch emergency services to any life-threatening incidents. These locations are visible on the map page.

The map can be useful during ongoing alarms to locate nearby employees for safety checks or to provide support in non-emergent scenarios.

Who can see the map in Nexus?

The map page on Nexus is available to:

  • Administrators for all people
  • Managers for their team members
  • Users for themselves

Why is it a good idea to restrict location access?

In our experience, some people may be discouraged from using personal safety technology if they don’t trust that their location is being monitored for non-safety reasons.

We recommend restricting permission to the map and adding clear guidance to your company policies on how location information will and won’t be used.

We also recommend being transparent in communications, clearly stating who can and cannot access mapping information and what it can be used for.

How to update location settings

Select the location setting, then choose which roles can access the map page from the drop-down menu. This will automatically save your preference and update people’s permissions when they next log in.
