What is a Device Test?
The device test feature allows you to check the functionality of your device. It ensures that the microphone and speaker are working correctly, and verifies that the device is connected to a mobile network and GPS is functioning properly.
The test simulates the key steps of raising an alarm, so you can be confident that your device will work in an emergency.
Note: There is no need to test the SOS button as part of this process.
When should I test my device?
You should complete a device test in the following scenarios:
-
First-time Use: If you’re using the device for the first time or for the first time in a long time, please complete a test.
-
Regular Testing: For best practice, we recommend testing your device at least once a quarter or once a month.
-
Testing a Fault: If you notice that the device’s lights aren’t flashing as expected, or if you suspect another issue, complete a device test to confirm its functionality.
How do I test my device?
Follow these steps to complete a device test:
-
-
Locate the Test Button: The test line is typically accessed through call button 2 on your device. For confirmation, refer to the article that outlines your device's button functions.
-
Press and Hold the Button: Press and hold the button for 4 seconds.
-
Record Your Message: The device will prompt: “Hello, you have reached the device test line. Please leave a message after the tone.”
-
Playback Confirmation: After recording, the device will confirm: “Thank you. If your message is played back, your device is activated successfully. If not, please contact your administrator.”
-
What should I do if the test is not successful?
If the test does not succeed (e.g., you don’t hear the playback or the device fails to activate), contact our Customer Support team. They will perform remote testing, assess the device, and either reconfigure or replace it as needed.
