Why Your Device Has GPS
Your device collects GPS location data so that the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) can quickly dispatch help to your most recent location when you raise an alarm.
How to test your device's GPS
Step 1: Access the Test Line
- Locate the Test Button: Usually this is Call Button 2. Check your device’s button guide to confirm.
- Press and Hold: Hold the button for 4 seconds.
Step 2: Record and Playback
- You’ll hear:
“Hello, you have reached our device test line. Please record a test message after the tone.” - Record your message.
- Then you’ll hear:
“Please now listen to your recording.”
Your message will be played back. - Finally:
“Your device audio test is complete. If you heard your message played back, your device is connected and working.”
Step 3: Test GPS Location
- You’ll hear:
“To test the GPS, press the power position button to log a manual position within 30 seconds and we’ll text you the location.” - Press the Power Button to log your location.
- Check for a text message showing your location.
Unsuccessful GPS Test
If you do not receive the SMS message with your location please ask your administrator to confirm that your mobile phone number is assigned as the Primary Contact number on your profile.
If the correct mobile phone number is assigned as the Primary Contact number on your profile, please carry out the following steps:
- Save the Peoplesafe SMS number, 447700170520 as a contact on your phone.
- Send "START" to the Peoplesafe SMS service, 447700170520, to ensure your phone number is allowed to receive SMS messages from us.
