What is Fall Detection?
Fall detection is a valuable feature designed to automatically trigger an alarm if a user slips, trips, or falls and is unable to manually raise an alert.
How is a fall detected?
On most of our products*, fall detection works by analysing three factors using the device's or mobile's sensors:

Freefall: The period of falling.

Tilt: A change in orientation.

Non-Movement: A period of 10 seconds without movement.
*Note: The ID Badge 2G only uses tilt detection for fall detection.
How can I stop it from activating by mistake?
To reduce the chance of false alarms, it’s important to wear your device correctly:

Devices such as MySOS, MicroSOS, and Microguard must be worn in a holster attached to the hip for fall detection to work properly.

Lanyards are not recommended for fall detection, as the swinging motion could lead to false activations.
Can I cancel a fall detection alarm?
Yes, you can cancel a fall detection alarm before it is raised to the Peoplesafe ARC.
Canceling a Fall Detection Alarm on a Device
If the alarm is triggered on your device, you will receive an alert.
You can cancel the alarm by following the appropriate steps outlined in the device's instructions below.
Cancelling a Fall Detection Alarm on the App
If a fall is detected, a notification will appear on your phone, accompanied by a repetitive sound and vibration. You have 30 seconds to cancel the alarm before it is automatically activated.
To cancel the alarm, you have two options:
Option 1: Using the App (All Phones)
- Tap the notification to open the Peoplesafe app.
- On the screen that appears, tap the Cancel Alarm button.
Option 2: Using the Phone's Motion Sensor (Android Only)
- While your Android phone is vibrating, give it a short, sharp shake.
- The vibration will stop, and the alarm will be cancelled.
Can I make it less sensitive?
You can adjust the sensitivity of fall detection, on the Peoplesafe App
Adjusting Sensitivity on the Peoplesafe App:

Open the Peoplesafe App and navigate to the Fall Detection tile or option in settings.

Adjust the sensitivity according to your preference.
Adjusting Sensitivity on a Device:
To adjust sensitivity on your device, contact Customer Support. They will guide you through optimizing the settings by asking questions about how you wear the device to ensure it’s set up correctly before making any adjustments.
Can I disable Fall Detection?
Fall detection is an optional feature selected by your Health & Safety team when partnering with Peoplesafe. Whether it can be disabled depends on the risk level for your workplace or activity. To disable fall detection completely, you will need approval from your administrator.
To Disable Fall Detection:

Contact your internal Health & Safety team for approval.

Once you have their approval, reach out to Peoplesafe to proceed with disabling the feature.
Toggleable Fall Detection:
If your device allows you to toggle fall detection on and off, follow these steps:

ID Badge (2G): Press and hold the call button (Button 3) and the device will vibrate to confirm.
