What is Check in/out?
Check-in and check-out allow you to record when you start and finish work safely. These checks are reportable in Nexus by your Manager, so they can confirm that you are safe and well at the beginning and end of each day.
Depending on the product you are using, you may also be able to record a voice message when checking in. If you are using the Peoplesafe Pro app, you may have the option to set a timer. If so, please read this article instead for more details.
When should I check in and out?
We recommend using this feature in the following situations:

Starting and Finishing Work Safely: Check in at the start of your day or shift and check out when you finish, so your Manager knows you are working safely.

Leaving and Arriving Home Safely: Check in when leaving for work and check out when you arrive home, so your Manager can confirm that you not only worked safely but also traveled home safely.
We do not typically recommend using this feature for specific appointments or tasks. For those situations, features such as the voice memo or timed activity are better suited.
What message should I record?*
You should record a message detailing the following situations:

Increased risk tasks: When completing a task with increased risk, such as entering a property that feels unsafe, meeting with a person known to be volatile, climbing a ladder, or working in confined spaces.

Working in a large or multi-storey building: Our service regularly records location information, so you don’t need to provide the address of your location. However, because GPS is not 3D, recording your location within the building will help emergency services reach you more quickly.

Sharing your device: If you are sharing your device and using it now, record your name and number on the message so the Alarm Controller knows who has the device if an alarm is raised.
*There is no option to record a message on our Pro application.
What happens if I don't check out?
If you do not check out, your Manager or Health and Safety team may contact you if they are monitoring check-outs regularly. However, nothing will happen within the device or app if you fail to check out at a specific time*. If you want an alarm raised if confirmation of safety is not received by a certain time, we recommend using a timed activity instead.

How do I check in?
Checking in on Devices
- Press and hold the button on your device for 4 seconds.
- The device will state: “Your device has been checked in successfully please leave a message after the tone”
- Record your message
- The device will state: “Thank you for calling, Goodbye”
