Understanding and Using Your Peoplesafe App PIN

This article explains what the Personal Identification Number (PIN) is used for in the Peoplesafe app, how to find and change it, and how biometrics can be used as an alternative.

PIN Status: Enabled or Disabled

Your PIN is an optional security feature that is controlled by your organisation’s Health and Safety Administrator.

  • If PIN is enabled, you will be required to enter it for certain tasks within the app.
  • If your PIN is disabled, you will not need to enter it for these tasks.

What Do You Need a PIN For?

When enabled, the PIN is primarily used to secure and authorise timed activities and welfare checks.

A PIN will be required for the following actions:

  • Starting a timed activity (e.g., TravelSafe, Timed Activity).
  • Extending the duration of a timed activity.
  • Stopping a timed activity.
  • Responding to a Welfare Check.

The PIN ensures that these critical activities are being managed by the authorised user.

Duress PIN

If you are under duress and need to immediately and discreetly raise an alarm, you can enter a specific PIN to trigger a Duress Alarm.

  • Entering 0000 or 9999 will immediately trigger a Duress Alarm.

How to Find and Change Your PIN

Finding Your Current PIN in the App

If your PIN is enabled, you can view your current PIN within the Peoplesafe app:

  1. Tap the Settings cog (top right).
  2. Navigate to User Info.
  3. Your current PIN will be displayed here.

Viewing and Changing Your PIN via Nexus

Your PIN can also be viewed and changed by editing your user profile in the Nexus administration portal:

  1. Log into the Nexus portal.
  2. Navigate to your user profile.
  3. Click Show to view your PIN.
  4. If you decide to change your PIN, remember to click Save.

Important: Refreshing Your App After a PIN Change

If you change your PIN in Nexus, you must refresh the app's settings to ensure the new PIN is sync'd:

  1. Go to Settings in the Peoplesafe app.
  2. Navigate to User Info.
  3. Select the Refresh PIN option.

Biometrics: An Alternative to Manual PIN Entry

For convenience, you can enable biometrics (e.g., fingerprint, Face ID) as an alternative to manually entering your PIN.

  • If biometrics are enabled, they will replace the requirement for manual PIN entry when starting, extending, or stopping activities and responding to welfare checks.
  • To enable biometrics: Go to Settings within the Peoplesafe app and follow the on-screen instructions.
