While the Peoplesafe App is continuously monitored in the background, we understand that some users wish to perform a manual connection test for complete peace of mind.
It is important to remember that the App relies entirely on your mobile phone’s built-in functionality (microphone, speaker, GPS, and mobile network connection). Therefore, this test primarily confirms that these core features on your phone are working correctly. Since the App's status is constantly assessed by our system, this manual test is optional but can serve as a useful reassurance.
What is a Phone Test?
This test allows you to check your phone's ability to make a phone call and confirms your microphone and speaker are operational by simulating a successful alarm call using our automated test line.
When Should I Test My Phone?
Optional First-Time Use: If you have just installed the App, are using a new handset, or have not used the App in a long time.
Personal Reassurance: If you simply want to confirm your phone's basic call features are operational.
How to Test Your Phone
Step 1: Access the Test Line
Using the mobile phone with the Peoplesafe App installed, call the Test Line number: +442035356639.
Do not activate an SOS alarm; simply call this number.
Step 2: Audio Check and Playback
You will hear an automated message: "Hello, you have reached our device test line. Please record a test message after the tone."
Record your test message.
You will then hear the prompt: "Please now listen to your recording." Your message will be played back.
Finally, the system will confirm: "Your device audio test is complete. If you heard your message played back, your device is connected and working."
This confirms that your phone’s microphone, speaker, and ability to connect a call are working.
Step 3: Location and Data Check
Unlike a dedicated device, the Peoplesafe App uses your phone's GPS in the background when active.
The successful completion of the audio test call confirms your phone's ability to make a successful call.
After the call has ended, use the app to send a Manual Position.
You will receive a separate SMS message for location confirming your phones data connection and the GPS location is accurate.
What Should I Do If the Test Is Not Successful?
Unsuccessful Audio Test
If you do not hear the recording played back, this indicates an issue with your phone's microphone, speaker, or network connection.
Check your phone’s volume settings.
Try restarting your phone.
If the issue persists, contact your mobile network provider or your IT Support team.
Cannot Connect to the Test Line
If the call does not connect, it indicates an issue with your mobile phone network signal.
Move to an area with better signal and attempt the call again.
If the issue continues, contact your mobile network provider.
